I had to include this photo...his smile matches the smile on the musical chair to a tee!

The first weekend of June I was able to break away from the madness of my work schedule and take Sunday off to attend Rowdy's NICU reunion up at St. Vincents Hospital. We were looking foward to return to visit with the Drs and nurses that cared for Rowdy his first 3 weeks of life. But the best unexpected person we ran into was my labor and delivery nurse, Belinda, who took care of me in Salem. She cared for me during the first two days of my recovery and then had a day off and was scheduled to continue my care until I was discharged. But her day off was our traumatic day getting rushed up to Portland and we never saw her after that. It was SO great to see her. Such a surprise and great to have a full circle to our story. She said she always wondered what became of us. This was my FAVORITE part of the whole day.

Getting our picture taken at the NICU reuion.

Grammie Gayla gave Rowdy this toy that he LOVES to stand at and bob his head up and down, we call it his dancing.

With the few days of very warm weather Rowdy and I spent a lot of time outside playing with the water table. He loves to SPLASH, SPLASH, SPLASH!

My sweet summer baby!

June meant it was time for another kidney ultrasound and urologist check-up. This time it was MUCH harder to keep Rowdy still...i call it alligator wrestling! He was not so thrilled to be restricted in his movements.

So update on Mr. Rowdy...he didn't have much change in the apperance of his kidneys, they are still holding fluid, and his ureters are still swollen with fluid as well. Good news is that his kidneys still appear to be growing and still look healthy. We will continue his daily medication, and ultrasounds every 3 months for the next couple years. In Sept we will also perform a special cathedar test that will be able to gauge what kind of pressure his bladder is experiencing. If his bladder pressure stays in normal range we will continue the medication and just continue to moniter him. If at any point his bladder is under high pressure, which can put dangerous pressure on his kidneys, we will have to talk about intermitten cathedarization. This means Lance and I would have to learn how to cathedarize him and help him go to the bathroom several times during the day. We are still praying for the best!

Dr. Hirselj, Rowdy's urologist, aka Dr. Cutie Pie, discovered that Rowdy's surgeon had a photo with Rowdy on our blog, and was wondering where his pic with Rowdy was. I had come to the appt prepared with a camera just for this reason!

Rowdy enjoying some lunch with mommy and daddy after our drs appt. Pastini...mmmm...can you say GARLIC deliciousness?

My little chub has a hard time staying seated on his bottom during the bath these days. He likes to pull himself up to a kneel to play.
His smile does match the chair! Ha ha, so cute! We plan to take Russell back to the NICU on his first birthday...how can you not thank the people who cared for your baby in their first weeks of life right?
ReplyDeleteRowdy is such a handsome little guy and looks so very happy!
Such a sweetheart! Rowdy has been on so many adventures in just the month of June alone--my life is pretty boring in comparison. Thanks for posting all the photos, and I'm so glad that work has slowed down enough that you can spend time on your blog again :).
